What is spyware? Spyware is software the performs activities on your computer without properly obtaining your consent.

Spyware can do the following:

	•	Transmit information about you online

	•	Invade your privacy

	•	Bombard you with ads

	•	Change your home page

	•	Slow down or crash your computer

What you can do to protect your system from spyware:

	•	Only download from sites you trust. Many freeware programs come with an enormous amount of bundled spyware that will slow down your system, spawn pop-up advertisements, or just plain crash your browser or even Windows itself.

	•	When you get popup ads, only close the window with the red x in the top right hand corner.

	•	Peer-to-peer (P2P) programs like Kazaa, BearShare, Grokster, Imesh, and others are amongst the most notorious.

	•	Note also that even if the P2P software you are using is "clean", a large percentage of the files served on the P2P network are likely to be infected. Do not open any files without being certain of what they are.

	•	Try an alternative browser. Many malware infections install themselves by exploiting security holes in Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is strongly suggested that you consider using an alternate browser.

	•	Both Mozilla Firefox and Opera are next-generation browsers that are more secure and faster than Internet Explorer, immune to most known browser hijackers, and outfitted with built-in pop-up blockers and other useful accessories.

How B2B Logic.net protects you against spyware:

	•	Spyware often takes advantage of bugs in the operating system. By making sure that your system is always kept up to date with all of the recommended security patches, we can help stop spyware before it gets onto your system.

	•	There are various tools that we use to help remove spyware from your computer once you are infected.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms on your computer contact us, and we will clean up your system, and help you to avoid future infection.
